Super Chef Gordon Ramsey Helps Home Beer Making Community
These are times we are in. There is nothing any of us can do about that. But there are plenty of ways of saving your hard earned shillings. One of those is home beer making.
Home beer making has not had a great image in the past. The home brew industry in general has not done much to improve this but there you go. Much of the bad press received by the words “home brew” is well deserved.
“Home brew” has always had the image of a rough, evil smelling, concoction that would strip the lining of your stomach…and only fit for the poor.
The same negativity also dogged anyone with an allotment, or a few veggies in the back garden. Anything that you tried to do for yourself was bad. Some people would rather microwave some muck in a plastic tray than bother with eating something you dug up from under the ground. I am still amazed when someone tells me that they have never eaten a carrot; scrunching up their faces in disgust like you’d asked them to eat a donkey turd.
Things are beginning to change. People are realizing the power of making and growing their own stuff. And it started long before the recession hit us. There has been a growing fear about what we’re putting into our mouths and the mouths of our children.
It’s good to see the likes of Jamie Oliver standing up for home produce, locally sourced, and ethical food.
And Gordon Ramsey has made his own beer for the F-Word TV show has helped heal the scars of the past and giving home beer making a cool modern image. And this trend is growing.
Say “I am a home beer maker!” and be proud.
